Burner: A technically and stylistically well-executed graffiti piece, that seems to burn off of the train in intensity.

I grew up on Long Island, New York during the 70’s-90’s and always loved the big, colorful, detailed graffiti pieces on trains. I never picked up a can myself, but I’ve always been a fan of the talent and the sudden, brief beauty of it.

I’ve lived in Crookston, Minnesota for several years and, with the sugar beet plant and other agriculture in the region, there’s a slow but steady stream of trains coming in and out of the area. When I realized I would miss seeing some of my favorite pieces when they disappeared, I started documenting them and, eventually, I decided to turn it into a formal project.

I mainly cover trains in and immediately around Crookston, MN, and along Hwy. 75, up till before Climax, MN. All posted pictures have been taken by me.
